Elylooks set for Christmas! It’s a fantastic City in which to live. Unlike some cathedral cities which must remain nameless Ely can boast an outstanding array of spectacular lights for the yuletide so befitting a settlement of its eminence. I overheard some visitors to the City the other day who were amazed that they could not only park for free but, also have access to some of the finest independent shops they had ever come across. They were also amazed at the assortment of supermarkets at Ely’s disposal; almost one of every BIG name is represented in this fast growing metropolis. Ely, in keeping with a city of its stature now has its very own ‘Bike and Go’ scheme which is so continental and ‘of the moment’ and befits an infrastructure which as Ely is, so very easy and safe to navigate. The mobile Ely Post Office is up and running too!

This week we must recognise and congratulate King’s Ely Junior pupils who have raised an astonishing £11,188.38 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA). Children from the school travelled to the air ambulance’s base at Cambridge airport to present the charity with a giant cheque. The money was raised through a whole host of fundraising activities during the year including; non-uniform day, cake sales, a Santa Run, and a Christmas card sale. Well done to all of you!

Speaking with Zahid at Sylhet it is great to hear that everyone is going curry crazy to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas holidays – they are already fully booked in the restaurant on both Friday 20th and Saturday 21st December. Spice up the festive period NOW!

You must be barking! Our friends at Hearing Dogs for the Deaf have a novel way of raising money this Christmas and also keeping everyone entertained. There was celebration all round as the winner of the fabulous Kit Heath Bracelet was announced at Page Fine Jewellery. We look forward to bringing you the name of the lucky winner.

And finally, on Radio 2 today it was announced that there was clinical/scientific evidence produced which proved that if you told people what they wanted to hear, they would be more content with things and happier! Now that’s a feel good factor if ever I have heard one isn’t it?

Have a Merry Christmas.
